Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Pottawatomie County is a
non-profit agency whose goal is to match senior volunteers with non-profit agencies,
churches, and supportive services in Pottawatomie County, including the Shawnee
Senior Center.

RSVP is a United Way Agency with offices in the Shawnee Senior Center and the
agency runs several programs as well as providing volunteers.
Meals on Wheels provides hot meals to homebound seniors and can
accommodate special medical diets when required.
Shoes that Fit works with school counselors to provide shoes for children in
need.  A child's shoe size is matched with individuals or businesses who will
purchase the shoes for the boy or girl.  This program is for children from Pre-K
thru fifth grade.
Volunteer Income Tax (VITA) Program is an income-based program to
provide free tax form preparation.  Partnered with the IRS, volunteers are
trained to prepare income tax forms.  Forms can be submitted electronically at
no cost  for faster refunds.
Friend of a Senior partners individuals and/or businesses with seniors who
would otherwise be alone for the Christmas Holidays.

RSVP receiv
es funds to support their programs from several sources.  Their
sponsoring agency is Central Oklahoma Community Action Agency (COCAA) and
grant funds are received from Senior Service Corps, the State of Oklahoma Office on
Aging, and RSVP
is a United Way Agency.

The agency holds an annual fundraiser called
"Jail 'n Bail for United Way".
Community members are "arrested, charged and bailed out" by collecting donations
from friends, family, co-workers and anyone who will help them post their bond.

To participate as a volunteer or for more program details, contact RSVP Director
Thixe Totty at 275-7910, Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm.
